Bylaugh is right in the middle of the holiday region of Norfolk. There is so much to do at Bylaugh and around about. We at Bylaugh have created a number of fabulous holiday packages (as listed below) which are not to stop you creating your own individual holiday when staying at Bylaugh. Whilst booking into this Stately Home for your holiday, or getting the whole family together in one of the Estate Houses or Cottages, we will show you all what a wonderful time you could choose and have whilst staying with us. The Bespoke Package Simply book a room, an apartment, one or more cottages or larger estate houses (click here to see them all) and choose whether you eat at Cocos (the restaurant at the hall), use the Health Spa and pool (completion Sept 08) and join in the activities such as dance, music or art classes at the hall. Or go to the seaside (large choice within c.45mins), riding, golfing, fishing, sailing, go-karting, ten pin bowling and the list is almost limitless. The Bylaugh Packages The Bylaugh Packages include the following - Golf
- Riding
- Fishing
- Sailing
- Rambling
- Cycling
*Within each package are the ‘Alternatives’. The Alternatives are for members of the family who do not want to golf, fish, sail etc. With the rest of the group on the package Bylaugh organises visits to interesting places, walks, picnics, shopping trips and many such things where the Alternative members of the group have something else to do and can join others on the package. Of course, that does not prevent one from opting out and simply enjoying Bylaugh itself whilst everyone else goes out for the day. The choice is yours. Our Rooms, our Bedrooms Arriving at Bylaugh Hall today is a very different experience to that of the second half of the last century when the building was ruined, or rather, half pulled down leaving it covered in a blanket of ivy. The former beauty has returned to remind us of its Victorian hey-day with the Evans-Lombe family in residence – the family who built it and Charles Knox D’Arcy (The founder and original owner of BP) who used it as his country residence. We can perceive why Edward VII short-listed Bylaugh before finally choosing Sandringham and we can understand why President Eisenhower was proud to have his photograph taken outside the front with his entire entourage during his visit at the end of the war. Today Muffy Vince has restored many, if not most of the rooms and brought them back to life. The original architect of Bylaugh Hall was Charles Barry who also designed the Reform Club in London. Muffy's inspiration for the special ambiance of Bylaugh has come in part from a different London Club, the Chelsea Arts Club in Old Church Street -a club which is quite unique. It has fine food and an atmosphere of warmth and conviviality that leaves even the stranger feeling they are quite at home. Now it is Bylaugh Hall, with its shape and play on shapes, which serves as her canvas. The rooms speak for themselves, these photographs go some of the way to describe them. Muffy has used colour and spatial relationships combined with a mix of the original period furniture and pictures (but new beds and bathrooms of course) to create these havens. Muffy is keen to get away from impersonal hotel bedrooms and welcomes you to stay with us in comfort and stlye at Bylaugh Hall. The Spa will be open later in 2008, there will be concerts and performances – some spontaneous and others planned. The feeling then will be that you are in a Stately Home which has the ambiance of an English Country House- and that is a reality. Note: In order that the experience goes back in time and is a place where one can find peace and tranquillity - you, the guests are welcome to take part in many of the activities at Bylaugh Hall. Please also note that many of the rooms are devoid of phones and TVs. If you particularly wish to have these facilities, then please request them when making your booking. However, WiFi for your laptops is silent, free and available.
The staff at Bylaugh can guide you and assist you in all sorts of exciting and pleasant options for your holiday. |
